GST Payment User Guide :


Step 1: Account Setup


  • Visit the Karbon Card website (www.karboncard.com) and create an account if you don't already have one.

  • Provide the required information and complete the registration process.


Step 2: Account Verification


  • Follow the verification process specified by Karbon Card to authenticate your account.

  • Submit any necessary documents or complete additional steps as requested.


Step 3: Setup GST 


  • Log in to your Karbon Card dashboard.

  • Navigate to the Tax Payment Option and Select GST Payment. {Image 1}

  • Click Add GSTIN if you visit for the first time. {Image 2}

  • Enter the GSTIN number or select from Drop Down and click Submit. {Image 3}

Step 4 : Create GST Challan for GST Payment


  1.  Generate challan on gst.gov.in Or click below Link
    https://payment.gst.gov.in/payment/

    Click on Create Challan and enter your GSTIN






  1. Enter your tax deposit details such as tax, interest, penalty, and so on in the GSTIN portal. Select E-Payment as the Payment mode and click GENERATE CHALLAN as shown below:




2. Once challan is generated, select Net Banking. A list is displayed to select the bank through which you can make the payment. Select ICICI BANK LIMITED. Check the Terms and Conditions apply box and select MAKE PAYMENT as shown:



3. It is mandatory to select ICICI Bank Limited because Karbon Card uses ICICI Bank's APIs to fetch challans from GST Portal to Karbon Card. A payment confirmation screen is displayed. Select INTERFACE USER - CLICK HERE to import this challan to Karbon Card as shown below:




Step 5 : Fetch Challan on Karbon Portal

  • Once Challan Creation is done using step 4 , the user can fetch the challan on Karbon Portal and make payment

  • Users need to visit the GST Payment option on Karbon Portal and click on the Fetch Challan option


  • Karbon Portal will fetch all unpaid challans and then user can select their preferred payment method (K-account or Connected banking)




Step 6 : GST Payment Initiation

  • Once a user selects the preferred payment method, the user will be redirected to the payment page.

  • Users can select payment modes(NEFT/IMPS/RTGS) and select the checker to approve this payment.



Step 7: Track and Verify Payments

  • Once approval is done, the user can track payment on the GST Payment dashboard by clicking on the transaction row.

  • Users should be able to view the payment stages in real time.

  • Karbon Card provides real-time updates on the payment status.

  • After the GST payment is successfully done, the user can download Debit Advice for that payment using the download advice button

1. How do the Karbon GST payment systems benefit taxpayers ?

2. How many Challans can be created in a day?

  • There is no limit to the number of Challans that you can create in a day.


3. Can I cancel the transaction once initiated from Karbon Portal for any GST Challan.

  • Yes, The Transaction maker can cancel the transaction before the checker approves it.


4. Can I make a GST payment through a physical Challan?

  • No, physical Challans will not be accepted for the payment of GST. Payments can be made only by the Challan/s generated through the GST Portal (www.gst.gov.in.).


5. Can I add multiple GSTIN numbers to make GST payments on Karbon Portal?

  • Yes.

6. Can I track GST payment status in real-time on Karbon Portal?

  • Yes, you can track GST payment status in real-time on Karbon Portal, You have to visit GST Dashboard on Karbon Portal and click on the transaction.


7. Is there any cut-off timings for making GST payments from Karbon Portal?

  •  No, There is no cut-off timing for GST payment from Karbon Portal, Users can make GST payment from Karbon 24X7.


8. Are manual Challans applicable as allowed currently under the existing VAT regimes?

  • Manual or physical Challans are not allowed under the GST regime. It is mandatory to generate Challans online on the GST Portal.


9. How many types of Challans are prescribed for various taxes and payments to be paid under the GST regime?

  • There is a single Challan prescribed for all taxes, fees, penalties, interest, and other payments to be made under the GST regime.


10. I created a Challan and later realized that I created the Challan with the incorrect amount. Can I go ahead and make the payment using the same Challan but make the payment with the correct amount at the Karbon’s portal?

  • No, any change in the amount of the Challan will not be allowed on the bank’s portal after the generation of CPIN. You will need to generate a new Challan for any change in the amount. The Challan with incorrect data, if unused, will automatically expire after 15 days.


11. If I misplaced the printout of my Challan, who should I contact to get a duplicate Challan?

  • There is no need to keep a copy of Challan as all the records will be available at the GST Portal. You can get a copy of the same from the Dashboard > Services > Payments > Challan History section of the GST Portal.


12. What are CPIN, CIN, and BRN?

  • CPIN or Common Portal Identification Number is created for every Challan successfully generated by the taxpayer

  • CIN or Challan Identification Number is generated by the banks, once payment in lieu of a generated Challan is successful

  • BRN or bank Reference Number is the transaction number given by the bank for a payment against a Challan



13. How long is the CPIN valid? What will happen if my CPIN expires?

  • The validity period for a CPIN is 15 days. You cannot make GST payment once a CPIN expires. Additionally, date of expiry for the generated Challan is clearly mentioned on the Challan for your convenience.


14. If a CIN has been generated, is it proof that payment has been made and will the amount paid be credited to cash ledger?

  • Yes, a generated CIN is proof that the payment has been made successfully and yes, the amount paid will be credited to the cash ledger.


15. What should be done in case I have already generated a Challan to make an offline payment in a bank but now wish to make an online payment?

  • The Challan generated to make an offline payment cannot be used for making online payment. In such a case, you may generate a new Challan and use E-payment option to make the payment. The Challan created to make an offline payment will expire automatically on its expiry date mentioned in the challan.
